Berlin, November 13, 2023. Agri-PV specialist Elysium Solar is developing one of the largest commercial agri-PV projects in Germany—and has received unanimous approval from the local community via a bylaw resolution. This means the permitting process is nearly complete. The project combines solar power with agriculture and enables direct marketers, self-consumers, and certifiers to access electricity generated using the latest ecological,_CO2-free technology, complete with certificates of origin (HKN), via Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

Located just outside Berlin, the 46 MWp project is one of the largest in Germany and has the capacity to supply 19,000 households with green electricity. Operations are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025. Additionally, an optimized, tracking east-west PV generation profile will yield portfolio benefits and high grid utility. Companies that enter into a premium PPA will receive long-term price certainty and electricity from a regionally accepted, scientifically monitored, flagship ecological project.

Agri-photovoltaics, the combination of agriculture and solar power, offers several advantages. For one thing, it opens up new areas for climate-neutral electricity generation while keeping them available for agricultural use. This increases public acceptance. Agri-PV helps farms adapt to climate impacts through light and water management. Thanks to agri-PV, higher agricultural yields can be achieved.
